Dr. Long Nguyen, CEO and Founder​

Dr. Long Nguyen is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Pragmatics, Inc. He established Pragmatics in 1985; prior to that, Dr. Nguyen had a distinguished academic career teaching computer science at Georgetown University, and other universities. He earned his undergraduate degree in physics at North Carolina State University; his master’s degree, also in physics, at the University of Virginia; and his doctorate in computer science at Iowa State University.

An active member of the community, Dr. Nguyen is a Member of George Mason University’s Board of Visitors, a Member of the Tower Club’s Board of Governors, and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Academy for Government Accountability. He established relief funds for 9/11 and Katrina victims, and contributed substantially to the Smithsonian Vietnamese American Heritage Endowment. He also served as a member of the Transition Committee for Virginia’s Governor-Elect in 2005. He has created endowments at both George Mason University and Iowa State University in honor of his past academic advisors. In 2007, he established the Lanh and Oanh Nguyen (his parents) Endowed Chair in Software Engineering at Iowa State University. His recent awards include 2008 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, 2008 Washington Business Journal Minority Business Leader Award, 2007 Corporate Leader from The Center for Multicultural Human Services, 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, 2006 Leadership Award from the International Leadership Foundation, 2005 Federal 100 Awardee, 2005 Executive of the Year Finalist from the Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards, a 2004 “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from the Diversity Advisory Board of George Mason University, and a 2004 Citation of Merit from Iowa State University. Every year since 2000, he has been on the Gold Sea List of 100 Top Asian Entrepreneurs.

Đó là chuyện thường tình . Nhưng cái giá đền ơn , đáp nghĩa to lớn của gia đình ông Long Nguyễn quả là ít người có thể so sánh và bì kịp

Một gia đình người Việt hiến tặng 5 triệu đô la cho trường đại học George Mason ở bang Virginia , Hoa Kỳ .

Khoản tiền do tiến sĩ Long Nguyễn cùng vợ là bà Kimmy Nguyễn sinh sống tai bang Virginia tra tặng đại học công lập George Mason sẽ được dùng đễ xây dựng toà cao ốc mang tên Long và Kim Nguyễn .

Toà nhà với diện tích 16000 mét vuông , khai trương vào đầu học kỳ mùa thu ở Mỹ là một cơ sỡ nghiên cứu giảng dạy , có tầm vóc quốc tế của trường đại học danh tiếng ở phía bắc Virginia .

Gia đình ông Nguyễn không muốn phát biểu nhiều về nghĩa cử cao đẹp này . Nói chuyện với báo chí , bà Kimmy Nguyễn khiêm tốn cho biết lý do mà ông bà đã dành tặng 5 triệu Mỹ Kim cho đại học George Mason .

Bà Kimmy Nguyễn cho biết : " Vì trường này ở khu vực chúng tôi sinh sống bao nhiêu năm nay , phía bắc Virginia . Thứ hai , như anh Long chồng tôi có nói là trường này quan trọng cho việc học hành của con em mình sau này nữa . Điều này đối với chúng tôi rất quan trọng . Hơn nữa việc làm này tốt , thể hiện lòng biết ơn của mình đối với nước Mỹ , nơi đã cho mình nhiều cơ hội thành công . Mình chỉ muốn nói rằng - Mình muốn bày tỏ lòng tri ân không phải của riêng mình , mà của những người Việt Nam sống ở nước Mỹ được nhiều cơ hội , mà chuyện học hành thì quan trọng nhất đối với tất cả mọi người . Đó là lý do vì sao chúng tôi quyết định như vậy " .

Trên trang Web của trường George Mason , có đăng lời của chủ tịch Alan Merten , ghi nhận sự cống hiến to lớn của gia đình tiến sĩ Nguyễn dành cho trường nói riêng và cho miền bắc bang Virgina nói chung .

Doang nhân Long Nguyễn là người sáng lập và là tổng giám đốc công ty Pramatic có trụ sở tại thành phốc Mclean , bang Virginia . Được thành lập từ năm 1985 , với 500 nhân viên . Pramatic hiện là công ty cung cấp giải pháp công nghệ thông tin hàng đầu .

Tiến sĩ Long Nguyễn đến Mỹ du học năm 1960 , tốt nghiệp cử nhân và thạc sĩ ngành vật lý trước khi lấy bằng tiến sĩ về điện toán . Ông từng tham gia giảng dạy tại một số trường đại học ở Hoa kỳ , trong đó có đại học GeogeTown ở thủ đô Washington .

Ông Long còn được biết đến như một người tích cực trong các công tác từ thiện vì cộng đồng . Ông là người thành lập quỹ hỗ trợ các nạn nhân trong vụ khủng bố 911 và trong trận bão Katrina tại Mỹ
